We went and it was fantastic!
Yes it really is in a barn - a beautiful big red American style one @ Linda's place!
The money raised from QITB goes to Cancer Research.
I reckon Linda is one amazing lady!!
This was the busiest QITB that I have been to yet. I think I say that every year. Lucky I have an AWD cos I was parked at the bottom of the front paddock - thats unheard of!!!
The reason for the excitement - This years featured quilter is famous Jo Morton who came out from the USA. We feel pretty blessed to have her here. Understatement! You can stop texting me now R - there are no sleeps left.
I took many pics these are just a taste. The workwomanship is so exacting. What a privelege to view stunning stitches up close. These few photos don't do them justice they are so much better in real life. Exquisite needleturn, precise piecing, topped with very professional machine quilting and perfect bindings.
Its on tomorrow and the next day (Saturday 3rd Sunday 4th Sept) as well
Jo was incredible and she had lots of time for everyone. There was a que to chat to her and have a pic taken. This was more awesome than a photo pic with royalty for us! Thats me on the left with the huge grin - Jo in the middle and my goodest buddy Robyn's Nest on the right. How stunning is the quilt in the background?!?!
Someone has a pic of a group of us out the front - which I'd love to see - cos as a brilliant surprise my buddy Marian came along too - with Sally who is a new stitcher and sssooo addicted to hexies she sniffs them like a druggy so I'm told.... LOL!
It was lovely to meet up with Deidre and Leonie again from The Quilted Crow who had their shop with them .
I bought some of their wool felt which is soft and perfect!!!!!!!! DEVINE!
Some more familiar faces - Gail was there and Sandra too ;-)
After QITB each year our tradition is to head over to Yarra Glen and go to the big Antique Centre
(this time I found some vintage buttons and a quant old book) This is an old pic from my archives.
We had lunch at the Yarra Glen cafe that is an original homestead from 1860. We ate outside in the sunny courtyard. The weather was perfect. The tree above us was just starting to bloom with its spring blossoms and a plump birdie watched us for a while until we got too loud and annoying for him.
What a perfect day.

Hi Cathy, Many thanks for visiting, and pleased to hear you had a great day. Bring on next year!!!

enjoyed you blog about Quilts in the Barn, I could not make it this year :(.... but was interested in where you went to lunch, my hubby almost grew up in that house, it used to be a farm house with the milking shed at the back, on the same location and surrounded by farm land, the original family still live in Yarra Glen, last time we had lunch there we sat in the little back room on the left and his comments were "how did 2 of us sleep in here" him & his best made, he was going back 50+years.

Hi Cath, Yes the exhibtion at QITB was wonderful, Ros & I went today. Linda & her team always create an amazing exhibition. The Winterberries quilt was one of my favourties and of course I just had to buy Jo's book, Coming Home. Sounds like you had a fun-filled day on Friday, maybe next year our plans to catch up at QITB will work out.
